Are you looking for the best deals on a brand new iPhone? You will not find many special offers, savings, or deals with AT&T. Not sure if you realized this but Verizon Wireless now offers the Apple iPhone. You can save a lot of money purchasing an iPhone through them.
And you know, I am really sad to say this but I have been a devoted AT&T customer for many years. I have to say that I am really disappointed in their service. I have owned and used the iPhone for over two years and can not find one thing to complain about. Unfortunately the same can not be said about AT&T.
For starters, their website is an absolute nightmare to navigate. I have no idea how to access my account and review my pricing plan and settings. On the rare occasion when I do figure things out, I notice that somehow I inadvertently change settings to my account. AT&T tends to automatically check features automatically when I am reviewing the features page.
What about the famous data plan? Wow, what a rip off. Luckily I have the old unlimited data plan. And I am hanging on to that thing for dear life. And yes, because of how vindictive I feel towards AT&T I proudly have my iPhone jailbroken and I suck up as much AT&T 3G bandwidth as I can using PDAnet. It’s actually quite fast. I usually get around 2000k download and around 150k upload. I have even hacked my iPhone and turned it into a web server.
Anyway the short version of the long story is that I am really happy to see that Verizon now carries the iPhone. I think with AT&T having exclusive sales rights to the iPhone was getting into their head. It is never good when someone or a company has exclusive rights to sell a product or service. History shows that customers suffer.
If you are wanting to purchase an iPhone I strongly recommend that you compare the price of the phone, the service plans, and the type of customer service and care between AT&T and Verizon. If I did not have the old AT&T unlimited data plan I would strongly consider switching over. I will probably stay with AT&T until I accidently uncheck the unlimited data plan or when someone from AT&T claims to have done the same.
That reminds me. If you happen to have the old unlimited data plan like I do. Protect that service with your life. I have gone into the AT&T store two times and on each instance the customer service rep made attempts to sell me on a different package which would completely remove my unlimited data plan. It’s like they are trained to do this.
So if you happen to make adjustments to your account, be very CLEAR and FIRM and tell them DO NOT uncheck my unlimited data plan. I REPEAT, DO NOT UNCHECK my unlimited data plan. If they do, then there is no way to get it back. So they say… As you can see, dealing with AT&T is stressful. I hope Verizon sheds some sunlight and positive energy with iPhone sales.
