I got a little worried because my MacBook Pro wouldn’t restart after installing the latest Mac OS X updates. This happened to me once before and I had to reinstall the operating system. Luckily this time it finally restarted.

If you experience the same problem, I recommend giving it some time. Eventually your computer will restart. Hopefully it does. It took my computer about 10 minutes. Finally it restarted.
